"Love is as Old as the Moon" 2/12/2022

Updated: May 2, 2022

It's that time of year where the aisles of stores are full of heart-shaped boxes filled with chocolate and roses are in high demand. Whether love is simple or complex, love is as old as the moon. I have pondered the many kinds of love from friendship to the love between humans and their furry companions, as well as between committed life partners in sacred marriage, and souls bonded together in all the ways that love manifests itself.

It seems a good time to share my poem "Love" from my first book, RHYMES AND REFLECTIONS. Let me know what you think!

LOVE

"Why do people have to fall in love,

Were they up very high before given a shove?

Seems like love should be an ascension,

That takes those in love to a lofty dimension,

But up or down isn't really the question,

Since being in love is life's greatest obsession.

How does one know when love has occurred?

By you acting romantic or acting absurd.

Can it be an ache that you feel in your heart,

When you and the one that you love are apart?

Like the instant you knew that you must be together,

To have and to hold forever and ever.

It's a blessing only those in love understand,

To be someone's woman, to be someone's man.

Whatever love is, it works out just fine,

Think of when it got started, the beginning of time."
